Researchers of the company IOActive found that the robot-seller Pepper is subject to serious hacker attacks.

Experts in the field of information security Lucas Apa and Cesar Cerrudo have created a tool that can be used to break into robots of SoftBank Robotics. If such software is in the hands of intruders, they will have the opportunity not only to remotely disconnect the robotic vendor, but also display any obscene images, including pornography, on its screen, and also demand ransom in Bitcoins.

Unlike traditional extortion programs that threaten clients with encryption of information on their devices, the Apa and Serboud tool can give hackers complete control over the robot. Therefore, the owners of Pepper will have to make a decision: pay ransom or return the seller to the producers. According to researchers, the return of the robot can take weeks, resulting in lost revenues for its owners. In this case, it is very difficult to reset the device to the factory settings. This means that extortionists may demand a higher ransom than with conventional hacker attacks.

Reporters noted that the developers have sold more than 10 thousand Pepper robots around the world. Some of them already work in large American networks Sprint and Pizza Hut. The cost of one robot is about nine thousand dollars.

Though the crypto market is still relatively new and lacks many of the traditional institutions of a civilized market, there are projects on the market that seek to indemnify or mitigate the associated risks that investors take when deciding to invest in projects. Cryptics is one such project that seeks to offer the necessary instruments for alleviating the situation with uncertainty. The concept behind it is to support market participants by providing liquidity on exchanges and a safety cushion for retail investors by creating a platform that connects market players and develops algorithms to predict changes in the value of cryptocurrencies. Such instruments based on highly advanced scoring models involving machine learning and AI are incomparable with human intuition that even the luckiest and most prudent investors could ever be endowed with. The multitude of factors involved in predicting a cryptocurrency’s rise or fall are all taken into account by the algorithms that Cryptics employs. Investors should consult such projects as the expense is well worth the ensured profit and peace of mind.
